Adobe Firefly alternativeElyum, pay only for keeps
Adobe Firefly deducts credits when you click Generate, while Elyum only charges the takes you KEEP and refunds the rest.

Adobe Firefly is Adobe's generative AI app for image, video, and audio. Adobe's official pricing page lists Adobe's own Firefly models plus 30+ partner models (Google, Kling, Runway, Luma, Black Forest Labs, ElevenLabs), Generative Fill, and hooks into Photoshop, Premiere, and Express. That Creative Cloud integration is what it is genuinely good at. Adobe also markets its own models as trained on licensed and public-domain content, and in 2026 added a Creative Agent that reaches ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Slack.
The friction that sends people looking is credits on generate, not on keep. Adobe help docs say credits are deducted when you click Generate, and an unsuccessful job is typically auto-refunded within minutes (up to 24 hours for longer video). Adobe Community threads disagree in practice. One report, "Credits Are Being Deducted Even When Video Generation Fails," says no refund arrived. Another user wrote that three attempts consumed around 1,500 credits with unusable results. A Firefly discussion said the app "ignored most of the detailed prompt and returned a simple, low-quality image." Video threads cite frequent errors and "totally unusable basic video."
Elyum is one studio and one credit balance across 50+ models. 1 credit equals $0.01. Plans are Free (up to 150 credits once (our algorithm may grant them), no card), Plus $9/mo, Pro $29/mo, and Ultra $69/mo. Every render returns as a free preview ("take"). You KEEP the ones you want (credits are charged only then) or KILL the rest for a full automatic refund. A failed generation is never charged. Paid plans kill freely. Free meters kills at one a month. Kept takes download full quality, no watermark, commercial use included. Overlapping models include Nano Banana 2, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, and FLUX 2 Pro.
This is not a Creative Cloud replacement. Elyum has no Timeline editor, no stock footage, no avatars or talking heads, no mobile app, no team seats, and no community feed. If you need Photoshop web, Express Premium, and Adobe Fonts on the same invoice as generation, stay on Adobe Firefly. If you want a keep/kill credit studio and models Adobe has not confirmed, keep reading.
Why people switch from Adobe Firefly
- Pay on KEEP, not on Generate
Adobe Firefly deducts credits when you click Generate. Elyum charges only on KEEP. KILL is a full automatic refund. Failed generations are never charged. Paid plans kill freely; Free allows one kill a month.
- About 20% under listed rivals
Elyum prices run about 20% under comparable platforms (Higgsfield, OpenArt, Runway anchors). The cut is already in the listed price on the pricing page. Firefly Standard is $9.99/mo for 2,000 generative credits; Adobe does not publish cents per credit.
- Unlimited images, no first-year sunset
Firefly Pro ($19.99/mo) and Pro Plus advertise unlimited generations on select or all image models, explicitly for the first year only. Elyum Pro ($29/mo) and Ultra ($69/mo) include fair-use unlimited image generation on selected models, including Nano Banana 2 on Ultra.
- Confirmed overlap plus models Firefly lacks
Adobe's partner models page lists Nano Banana 2, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, and FLUX.2[pro]. Elyum runs the same four. The Kling 3.0 comparison breaks out clip length. Seedance and Wan are not confirmed on Firefly.
- MCP and API beside Adobe's agents
Adobe Firefly reaches ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Slack via its Creative Agent. Elyum runs in the web studio or from Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor via the MCP server and a REST API.
- A bad take is not a 1,500-credit hole
An Adobe Community report said three generation attempts consumed around 1,500 credits with unusable results. On Elyum a failed generation is never charged, and a take you do not want is a KILL (full refund).
Where Adobe Firefly still wins
- Creative Cloud is the actual product
Adobe Firefly ships Generative Fill and partner models inside Photoshop, Premiere, and Express. Elyum is a standalone web studio. If the job is edit-in-Photoshop then generate, Adobe Firefly is the better fit.
- Timeline, teams, and bundled apps
Firefly has a Timeline video editor. Team Pro starts at $19.99/mo, Team Pro Plus at $49.99/mo, Team Premium at $199.99/mo. Paid plans can bundle Adobe Fonts, Express Premium, and Photoshop web/mobile. Elyum has no timeline, no team seats, and no mobile app.
- Adobe's own models and IP stance
Adobe markets its own Firefly models as trained on licensed and public-domain content, with a commercially-safe IP indemnification stance. Elyum does not offer Adobe's Firefly models or that indemnification.
- First-year unlimited volume play
Firefly Pro Plus (promotional $34.97/mo, regularly $49.99 through Oct 21 per Adobe's pricing page) advertises unlimited generations on all image models (1K/2K) and select video models for the first year. That is real volume if you will use it in year one.

What it actually costs
Adobe's official pricing page lists Firefly Standard at $9.99/mo for 2,000 monthly generative credits, unlimited Generative Fill and mood boards, and up to 20 five-second premium videos. Firefly Pro is $19.99/mo for 4,000 credits, first-year unlimited on select models (Nano Banana, Flux.2 Pro), plus Photoshop web/mobile, Express Premium, and Adobe Fonts. Firefly Pro Plus is $34.97/mo promotional (regularly $49.99, 30% off through Oct 21 per that page) for 10,000 credits and first-year unlimited on all image models (1K/2K) and select video. Team Pro $19.99, Team Pro Plus $49.99, Team Premium $199.99/mo. Team credits, cents per credit, and top-ups: not published.
Elyum plans are Free (up to 150 credits once (our algorithm may grant them), no card), Plus $9/mo, Pro $29/mo, and Ultra $69/mo. 1 credit equals $0.01, and credits can be topped up. Pro and Ultra include fair-use unlimited image generation on selected image models (Nano Banana 2 is fair-use unlimited on Ultra). Listed rates already run about 20% under Higgsfield, OpenArt, and Runway anchors.
Worked example: a 5-second Kling 3.0 take on Elyum is {{price kling-3 per second 5}}. The preview is free. KEEP pays that line. KILL refunds it. A 1K Nano Banana 2 render is 3 credits ($0.03). Firefly Standard's $9.99/mo plan includes up to 20 five-second videos, but Adobe does not publish a per-second Kling price, so you cannot match the two credit-for-credit.
