Luma Dream Machine alternativeElyum, pay only for keeps
You buy Luma Dream Machine credits up front each month; on Elyum a take is free until you keep it.
Luma Dream Machine is Luma AI's text- and image-to-video product, now sold under a Luma Agents umbrella on a Plus, Pro, and Ultra ladder. Reviews still praise the in-house Ray line (flagship Ray 3.14, January 2026) for photorealistic motion, coherent camera work, and 1080p on paid plans. The same Luma Agents pricing page lists third-party models (Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2, Seedance 2.0, plus Seedream and ElevenLabs audio) next to Ray 3.14 and Uni-1. That is the real product: Luma's look, plus a rented marketplace, in one subscription.
The search usually starts after a credit month goes wrong. Luma's Payments help puts Free and Lite on watermarks and non-commercial use; commercial rights start at Plus ($30/mo, 10,000 credits). Unused credits expire on the billing date. Failed generations are refunded on the official pricing page, but a finished clip that looks wrong still spends the bucket. A Magic Hour piece quoted a user with about 3 usable results out of 14. Vijay Talks AI called the monthly reset the pain: a bad generation can mean waiting a full month. Product Hunt reviews also flag unclear credit usage and slow support.
Elyum is one studio and one credit balance across 50+ video, image, and audio models. 1 credit is $0.01. Plans are Free (up to 150 credits once (our algorithm may grant them), no card), Plus $9/mo, Pro $29/mo, Ultra $69/mo. Every render comes back as a free preview (a take). KEEP charges credits; KILL refunds them automatically. Failed generations are never charged. Paid plans kill freely; Free gets one kill a month. Kept takes download full quality, no watermark, commercial use included. On models Luma Dream Machine also lists, a 5s Seedance 2.0 clip at 480p is 30 credits ($0.30). Same idea on Veo 3.1: a 5s 720p take is 105 credits ($1.05).
This page is not for someone whose brief is Luma Agents at 4x or 15x usage, or who needs guest-collaborator edit access on a Luma project. Elyum has no timeline editor, no stock footage, no talking-head avatars, no mobile app, no team seats, and no community feed. If Ray 3.14 is the look you already locked, stay on Luma Dream Machine for that model. If you need native audio on the generator itself, Ray does not have it; Veo 3.1 and Kling do, and both tools can sell those.
Why people switch from Luma Dream Machine
- Paid floor is $9, not $30
Luma Dream Machine Plus is $30/mo ($25 yearly) for 10,000 credits that expire unused. Elyum Plus is $9/mo. Commercial use and clean downloads are on kept takes, not gated behind a $30 rung.
- Bad takes refund on kill
Luma Dream Machine refunds failed generations, per its pricing page. A finished-but-unusable clip still burns the monthly bucket, which is the complaint Vijay Talks AI recorded. On Elyum you KEEP or KILL after the preview. Kill is a full refund. Failed gens are never charged.
- Credits do not wait a month
Luma Dream Machine unused credits expire on the billing date with no rollover. A Magic Hour reviewer also said free-tier jobs sit at low priority in peak hours. Elyum top-ups exist, and a kill returns the spend immediately instead of parking you until next cycle.
- Same rented models, listed rates
Luma Dream Machine lists Seedance 2.0, Nano Banana Pro, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, and GPT Image 2. Elyum lists those too. A 5s Kling 3.0 take is {{price kling-3 per second 5}}. Line-item rates, not a shared mystery bucket.
- Free tier can be commercial
Luma Dream Machine Free is watermarked, 720p, and personal/non-commercial only. Exact free credits are not published by Luma (third parties disagree). Elyum Free is up to 150 credits once (our algorithm may grant them), no card. One kill a month on Free; paid kills are unlimited. Kept files have no watermark and include commercial use.
- Studio plus MCP, one balance
Dream Machine consumer subscriptions do not include API access; Luma bills API separately. Elyum's web studio shares a balance with Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor through the MCP docs and a REST API. One meter.
Where Luma Dream Machine still wins
- Ray 3.14 is Luma's look
Photorealistic motion and cinematic camera work are what reviewers still credit to Luma Dream Machine's own Ray line. Elyum does not offer Ray 3.14 or Uni-1. If that house style is the brief, switching studios will not reproduce it.
- Luma Agents multipliers
Pro is $90/mo ($75 yearly) with 40,000 credits and 4x Luma Agents usage. Ultra is $300/mo ($250 yearly) with 150,000 credits and 15x Agents usage. Elyum has no Agents product and no equivalent multiplier.
- Guest collaborators on a project
Plus and above include edit access for guest collaborators, per Luma's pricing page. Elyum has no team seats. A small shop already handing a Luma project to a client should stay put for that workflow.
- No editor, app, or team seats
Elyum does not have a timeline editor, stock footage, avatars, a mobile app, or a community feed. Luma Dream Machine is still the place for people who want those extras in one Luma login.

What it actually costs
Luma Dream Machine Plus is $30/mo or $25/mo yearly for 10,000 monthly credits, commercial use, no watermark, Luma plus third-party models, and guest-collaborator edit access. Pro is $90/mo or $75/mo yearly for 40,000 credits and 4x Luma Agents usage. Ultra is $300/mo or $250/mo yearly for 150,000 credits and 15x Agents usage. Credits reset on the original billing date and unused credits expire. An Unlimited tier is mentioned in the watermark policy but is not priced on the current page. Per-clip credit costs are not published. Top-ups are not clearly documented; a spending limit can be set for mid-project overage.
On the pricing page, Elyum sits under that ladder: Free up to 150 credits once (our algorithm may grant them), Plus $9/mo, Pro $29/mo, Ultra $69/mo, 1 credit = $0.01, top-ups allowed. Pro and Ultra add fair-use unlimited image generation on selected image models. Listed rates already sit about 20% under Higgsfield, OpenArt, and Runway anchors. Worked example on a model both studios list (see the Seedance 2.0 comparison): a 5s 1080p take is 120 credits ($1.20). Two previews you keep would read 2 × 120 credits = 240 credits ($2.40). Kill the rest and those takes cost nothing. Luma Dream Machine does not publish the credit price of that same clip.
| Luma Dream Machine plan | Monthly | Yearly (per month) | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Sources disagree on the exact allowance: the official Payments & Subscriptions help page does not state an exact free-tier credit number; third-party trackers report figures ranging from ~80 credits/day to ~30 generations/month at 720p. Treat the exact number as unverified. · watermarked |
| Plus | $30 | $25 | 10,000 monthly credits |
| Pro | $90 | $75 | 40,000 monthly credits |
| Ultra | $300 | $250 | 150,000 monthly credits |
