Canva is a browser-based design platform (founded 2013 in Australia) whose Magic Studio suite bolts AI image, video, writing, and design-automation onto a template-driven editor. Magic Media, Magic Write, Magic Design, Magic Switch, Magic Expand, and a conversational Canva AI assistant live inside that canvas, not as a standalone generator. After the July 2024 Leonardo.Ai acquisition, Canva Business and Enterprise also fold in Leonardo's Phoenix, Lucid Origin, and Lucid Realism plus third-party models behind one UI. That combination is strong if you already produce finished marketing assets in Canva. The Canva homepage still leads with the editor, not a model picker.
The bill is the usual reason people look elsewhere. Canva Pro is $18/mo ($12/mo yearly) after staged 2024-2026 increases from about $12.99, and the old flat-rate Teams plan became per-seat Business at $21/mo in September 2024. AI credits sit in one Standard/Premium/Ultra monthly pool (about 2,000 / 200 / 20 on Pro, per eesel.ai). A 10-slide Canva AI 2.0 request can burn far more Ultra credits than ten separate images. eesel.ai says each failed generation still counts against the allowance; Canva's own AI-credits help page returned 403 in the 2026-09-07 research pass, so that refund rule is not official. eesel.ai also reports the Pro Premium allowance can vanish in a weekend of prompt experiments.

- Pinned model versions
Canva and Leonardo materials mention Seedance, Kling, Nano Banana, and Veo without confirmed versions. Wan 3.0, Gemini Omni Flash, and Grok Imagine 1.5 are not offered. Elyum sells those SKUs on the Nano Banana 2 page and the Gemini Omni Flash page.
- Agents can generate, not just embed
The Canva Connect API is for building apps and integrations. A public generation API was not confirmed. Elyum runs in the web studio or from Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor via the MCP docs and the REST API docs.
- Pro did not stay at $12.99
Canva Pro moved from about $12.99 to $18/mo over roughly two years. AOL reported criticism that AI features were used to justify the climb, and that smaller teams could get priced out. Elyum Plus is $9/mo and Pro is $29/mo on a published credit price.

What it actually costs
Canva Pro is $18/mo, or $12/mo billed yearly. Business is $21/mo per seat. Enterprise is custom. eesel.ai lists a shared monthly pool of about 2,000 Standard / 200 Premium / 20 Ultra credits on Pro, and 4,000 / 400 / 40 on Business. Canva's public pricing page returned HTTP 403 on 2026-09-07, so those credit counts are third-party. AI Pass can multiply the monthly allowance (about 40x Pro, 20x Business per eesel.ai). The dollar price for AI Pass is not listed before checkout.

Worked example: one short video. Canva research prices a 4-second Magic Media clip at 1 AI credit, tier unknown, so the dollar cost is not published. On Elyum, a 5-second Seedance 2.5 take at 480p is 40 credits ($0.40) if you KEEP it, and nothing if you KILL it. Keeping two of those takes is 2 × 40 credits = 80 credits ($0.80).
